A moment to decide

I find it hardest to deal with situations where there is more than one right answer. The existence of a third, competing option dilutes the simple dichotomy of yes and no. It casts doubt on the absolute nature of the other two options. It brings too much possibility into the picture, and with it the seed of unpredictability. The only mechanism to deal with unpredictability is conjecture. And with conjecture, there is doubt.

Life gives us choices, and we make these everyday, though I don't ever seem to become better at making them. I choose my paths only with the alacrity borne out of desperation, the seconds ticking down till life pulls the trigger. In these moments where forks in the road turn into crossroads, I am utterly derailed; my thoughts fly off the curving tracks of consequence.
